Khymera: 2003 - Khymera

Khymera es una banda italiana de Aor, formada por el guitarrista de Empty tremor y Genius, Daniele Liverani, y el baterista Dario Ciccioni.

Su disco debut, contó con la participación del vocalista Steve Walsh de Kansas y Streets.

Entre las canciones incluyen las canciones previamente grabadas por Mr. big, para el soundtrack de Navy seals, Strike like lightning y Shadows, escritas por Giorgio Moroder, junto a cuatro canciones escritas por el guitarrista de Survivor, Jim Peterik: Living with a memory, Say it with love, Tears on the page y Aftertouch. También contó con dos composiciones de Winger, Without warning y Written in the wind, junto a la canción de Hardline, Love leads the way, originalmente publicada, como un bonus japonés en su disco Double eclipse. Los miembros de Mecca, Joe Vana y Thom Griffin ayudaron con los coros.

Liverani y Ciccioni también estuvieron en Maindream, una banda de covers que nació en el año 2002, incluyendo al guitarrista de 13 años, Tommaso Ermolli, junto al bajista Alberto Rigoni. Maindream hizo covers de bandas como Van halen, Mr. big, Racer X y Extreme. Los cuatro miembros de la banda, grabaron demos bajo el nombre de Twinspirit.

A mi humilde opinión, esta es la peor entrega de la banda, los siguientes dos discos, son una maravilla.

Khymera: 2005 - A new promise

A mediados del 2004, Liverani y Ciccioni, trabajaron junto al bajista de Pink cream 69, Dennis Ward como productor y vocalista, comenzando a grabar su segunda entrega titulada A new promise.

También contaron con la compañía del joven guitarrista Tommy Ermolli, así quedando Liverani sólo en el bajo.

Nuevamente, el disco trajo canciones escritas por otros músicos, como por los ex Sugartown, Tom y James Martin, Jeff Scott Soto, Don Barnes, Robin y Judithe Randall.

Khymera empezó con las grabaciones de su tercera entrega, en octubre del 2006, el cual cuenta con canciones escritas solamente por Tom y James Martin.

Finalmente, el disco fue publicado en el año 2008, bajo el nombre de The greatest wonder.

Swedish erotica: 1989 - Swedish erotica

Originalmente llamados Swedish beauty, formaron a mediados de los 80's, y en sus comienzos, tuvo muchos cambios en su alineación. La primera alineación, estaba compuesta por el guitarrista Magnus Axx, el bajista Ulf Sandin, el vocalista de Tnt, Dag Ingebrektsen, el ex guitarrista de Madison, Dan Stomberg y el baterista Magnus Nybratt.

Grabaron un tema, antes de que Nybratt y Stomberg se retiraran. Los reemplazos fueron Anders Allhage (Andy LaRoche), actual miembro de King diamond, y Jamie Borger.

La vida de Swedish beauty termina durante 1988, pero reaparece bajo el nombre de Swedish erotica al poco tiempo después, de la mano de Axx y el guitarrista Morgan Jensen.

La primera alineación incluye el ex vocalista de Madison, Göran Edman, quien luego se retira para ingresar a la banda de Yngwie Malmsteen y entró el vocalista de Capricorn, Tony Niva, quien apareció en el primer single de la banda, Down town, en 1989.

El disco debut de la banda, titulado Swedish erotica, fue publicado el mismo año, y la alineación consistía en el vocalista Levén, Axx y Jensen en las guitarras, Jonas Tangström en el bajo y el ex baterista de D.D. band, Bjarne Olsson.

Levén se retira en 1990, ingresando a Treat y a Abstrakt algebra, después trabajó junto a las bandas Yngwie Malmsteen, Talisman y Southpaw. La siguiente alineación incluía al vocalista Anders Möller, guitarrista Ken Sandin, quien se retira para ingresar a Alien y Da Vinci.

En el año 1995, Olsson estuvo presente en las giras como baterista con Shotgun messiah, mientras se estaba produciendo su segundo disco, Blind man's justice, así que Jamie Borger estuvo en la batería nuevamente.

Luego de haber publicado su segundo disco, Möller por su parte, se quedó junto a Black ingvars, yéndose a una gira nacional, y así abandonando Swedish erotica, que decidieron no continuar.

A principios del 2006, se supo que Mats Levén estaba trabajando con la banda Fatal force. Banda que estaba compuesta por el guitarrista Torben Enevoldsen y el baterista acreditado de Xsavior, Mind's eye, Speedy Gonzales, Faro y Philip Bardowell, Daniel Flores. Con quienes publicó su entrega homónima.

El 31 de marzo del 2007, Mats Levén estuvo junto a Candlemass en su 20avo aniversario, interpretando la canción Black dwarf, en Kolingsborgm Estocolmo.

Zodiac Mindwarp and the love reaction: 1986 - High priest of love

Mark Manning, llamado también Zodiac Mindwarp es un conductor de bus y un artista de tiras cómicas; también un adicto a ellas.

Zodiac Mindwarp and the love reaction, estaba compuesta por Mindwarp, el baterista Boom Boom Kaboomsky, el bajista Kid Chaos y el guitarrista Cobalt Stargazer.

Su debut fue el mini-album, titulado High priest of love, publicado en el sello Food, en 1986 y fue captado por el sello Mercury, un impreso de Phonogram.

El disco Tattooed beat messiah, fue el primero en publicarse en un sello más grande. Tuvo muchos retrasos en su publicación, ya que varios productores no pudieron familiarizarse. El disco finalmente lo produjo el manager de la banda, Dave Balfe, junto a Bill Drummond y fue mezclado por el sonidista de Def leppard, Nigel Green.

La banda añadió al ex-guitarrista de Max & the broadway metal choir, Jan Cyrka (Flash Bastard) y viajaron por los EEUU en 1988, incluyendo el apoyo a la presentación de Guns n' roses.

The love reaction se desintegra, y Kid Chaos ingresa a The cult cambiando su nombre a Haggis.

En 1991, hubo un proyecto fallido junto al bajista Youth de Killing joke, llamado Zodiac Youth. Grabaron el single Fast forward the future, pero fue archivado.

En 1992, la banda perdió el contrato con Phonogram y fueron rechazados por varios sellos. Finalmente, firmaron con Musidisc para grabar Hoodlum thunder. Disco que incluye el tema Feed my Frankenstein, co-escrito por Alice Cooper.

En ese momento, la banda estaba compuesta por Mindwarp, Stargazer, el bajista Suzy X y el baterista Slam Thunderhide.

Para la gira de ese año, no dieron tan buen espectáculo como en sus anteriores años.

En el año 2001, Mindwarp volvió a la luz con su libro Fucked by rock- The unspeakable confessions of Zodiac Mindwarp. El que incluyó un Cd con su nueva canción Fucked by rock, de su siguiente álbum.

Zodiac Mindwarp and the love reaction hizo su retorno a mediados del año 2002 con su disco en estudio titulado I am rock.

Para el concierto inicial, la banda estuvo compartiendo escenario con Paul Dianno en Londres.

Casanova es una excelente banda alemana, formada por el ex-vocalista de Mad max, Michael Voss y por el baterista de Warlock, Michael Eurich. Los demás miembros de la banda, eran el guitarrista Stephen Neumeier y el bajista Jurgen Attig.

En 1991, Casanova viajó por Alemania, y por los EEUU, junto a Warrant después de haber publicado su disco debut, a principios de año.

Para 1995, la banda potenció el sonido incluyendo al teclista Axel Urban.

En ese año, la tercera entrega de Casanova estaba en planes, pero Voss se retira para crear Demon drive junto al guitarrista de Sabu, Bonfire, Sinner y Pretty maids, Angel Schleifer y el baterista de Letter X, Frank Kraus, llevándose a Urban y Mayer con él.

En el año 1996, Voss contrubuyó con el bajo para U.d.o., para el disco tributo a Judas priest, Legends of metal.

En las grabaciones de su tercera entrega, con el baterista de Running wild y U.d.o., Stefan Schwarzmann como productor. Finalmente, vieron la luz en el año 1999, con el disco titulado Heroes.

Jochen Mayer ingresó a Domain, para su disco Last days of utopia, en el 2004.

Para ese mismo año, Voss ingresó a 20th century boys, junto al vocalista Michael Bormann de Jaded heart, The sygnet, Biss y Bonfire. El resultado, se demostró en el disco Beware of the rex, que era un disco completamente de covers de T-rex.

Casanova marcó su retorno en el mismo año, con su disco All beauty must die.

Tuvieron grandes presentaciones, incluyendo una presentación apoyando a Dokken en Alemania, en abril y una aparición en el evento Firefest, durante mayo, en el Reino unido.

Para el 2005, Michael Voss sesionó junto al vocalista de Lynch mob, Oni Logan, en su disco solista Stranger in a foreign land. El cantante apareció en las canciones Footprints in the sand y Eight feet below.

En octubre del 2006, tuvo una aparición en el disco debut de Beggar's bride, Boulevard of broken hearts.

Eclipse: 2001 - The truth and a little more

Eclipse es una espectacular banda originaria de Estocolmo, Suecia, fundada en 1999, por el cantante Erik Mårtensson y el guitarrista Magnus Henriksson.

Partieron grabando cuatro demos, lo que fue suficiente para que en el 2001, publicaran su debut The truth and a little more, en el sello británico Z.

Para el disco, contaron con la ayuda del guitarrista de Europe, Kee Marcello y del teclista de Yngwie Malmsteen, Mats Olausson.

Eclipse: 2004 - Second to none

Luego de su debut, firmaron con el sello italiano Frontiers.

El teclista/baterista, Anders Berlin, que estuvo por un tiempo en la banda, opta por retirarse.

Para la grabación del disco, se contó con el bajista Fredrik Folkare, miembro de Scudiero, Unleashed y de Incardine, junto al baterista Magnus Ulfstedt. El disco, se tituló Second to none y fue publicado en el 2003.

Mats Olausson nuevamente participó como teclista.

El vocalista Eric Mårtensson, siguiendo en Eclipse, participó junto a Amaze me durante el 2003.

La banda estuvo presente en el disco tributo a Sweet, titulado The Sweet according to Sweden, con la canción Need a lot of lovin' en el 2004. Después, Erik Mårtensson hizo unas sesiones para Brazen abbott.

Eclipse: 2008 - Are you ready to rock

Durante el 2008, el vocalista de Talisman, Yngwie Malmsteen y Journey, Jeff Scott Soto, formó el trio W.e.t., junto a Erik Mårtensson y el guitarrista de Work of art, Robert Säll.

El tercer disco de la banda, titulado Are you ready to rock?, fue publicado en octubre del 2008. Para ese entonces, Johan Berlin de Timescape, ayudo en los teclados, mientras que Robert Bäck estuvo tras las baterías.

Eclipse hizo una aparición en el evento Firefest, el 24 de octubre del 2009, en Nottingham.

Éste disco es mi preferido en su excelente discografía. Cuando lo escuché, no podía pensar que fuera mejor, hasta que escuché su última canción, Call of the wild; sencillamente es espectacular, rápidamente se convirtió en una de mis preferidas, claro, sin olvidar a Under the gun, To mend a broken heart, Breaking my heart again y a la excelente balada Unbreakable.
